From the studio.

Go Cubs.

I’ve been slogging through March with various art assignments for myself. Working on visual journals, revisiting some online classes, generally putzing in the studio. Art and reading books are the major ways I try to get through the day-to-day detritus of what’s going on in the country I love. But am a bit peeved at right now.

The Haikus were written by a prolific 5th grader from many years ago, Dennis. I hope went on to write books or create poems because he was an amazing writer.

Oh boy, this was fun. The dresses and facial features are pulled from magazines with packing tape. It’s a Carla Sonheim activity from many years ago. I could make dozens. Because it’s fun.

And so was this. The original way over on the left is a rubber stamp. I drew it again freehand, then dressed that image up using some outfits I recreated from a fashion book. Another diversion that keeps me company.

Some recent discoveries:

Four cellists on one cello playing Ravelo.

Have you discovered Carter yet? Here he is making broccoli cheese soup, and there are lots more where he comes from. I am in love.

Singing for animals.
