Poems and lovely odds and ends.
Ava. Do. Not. Disturb.
As January winds down, I am touching base with you before we are in February, the month of love.
It’s raining here but in the 50s, so we surely won’t have snow. Hoping February brings some snow to us, but am pretty conscious of the misery the snow is bringing to our friends in other places, so I’ll not say much more on the matter. I rather like the rain in January; I like getting cozy by the fireplace, reading my book, and making art without fretting that I’m not outside enjoying the sun.
Before sharing some gems I’ve recently found, here’s another reminder that on Sunday the 1st, the Poemfest begins. A month of poems with an accompanying illustration by me, just for the fun of it. If you have not joined up, I hope you’ll consider it. Your sign-up will only apply to the Poemfest, nothing else. Of course, I would love if you would join the blog mailing list, too. There’s a SUBSCRIBE button for that at the top of the site.
You can also go to COLLECTIONS at the top to see past Poemfests.
If you would like more information, last year’s preview is here.
Art comes in all forms. Here are some I’ve enjoyed recently.
1
Jackson Browne sings Doctor My Eyes with a background of musicians all over the world. I just love to see the music being played and enjoyed worldwide. It should always remind us if the wide world we live in, people of different customs and faiths, enjoying the moment together.
2
And, just in case you missed it a couple of posts ago, there is this magnificent piece sung in the deserts in Abu Dahbi, with local artists and two Canadian brothers. I go here often just to have the pleasure.

I think you will not be unhappy to watch this little guy eat a carrot (?).
4
8 yr old figure skater. Watch this. I promise you will not be disappointed.

More faces in the news.
Other things I’ve been playing at.
Here’s a quick and simple recipe I recently discovered. Mix 2 bananas, 2 eggs and a cup of peanut butter with a mixer. Add a cup of blueberries. Bake for 12 or so minutes (all ovens are different!) at 425. A muffin without sugar!
