Inspirations.

Do you know about my blog recommendations? I just reviewed and updated my list; they all make for lovely reading. You will always find them at COLLECTIONS (at the top of the page) and here, for your immediate pleasure.

Just for fun (and because I am procrastinating on something else), l’ve pulled one thing from a few of those blogs on the list. It was hard to keep them to one each. There really is a lot of good reading there, and not just for those who make art.

And, while we’re at it…have you looked at the COLLECTIONS or other things there at the top of the page? I encourage you to check some out. There is a LOT there.

Just sayin’.

Mary Ann Moss, Dispatch from LA. I’ve talked about Mary Ann’s blog many times before. Loaded with photos, trips, everyday wonders and frustrations, sketchbook pages. I love her POEMS page and think you will too.

Carol Mulvenon, Tall Tales from Kansas. You will enjoy this post,(the inventive mind of the person who wove this project into their school curriculum), I am certain. As well as the other regular posts. She is, by the way, Mary Ann’s (above) sister.

Oh, this Paris fanatic here in Bonney Lake does love reading about Carol’s daily life in Paris, her adopted home. Here’s a post about a book that sounds deliciously French.

Leslie Fehling, Everyday Artist. , If you enjoy looking at beautifully rendered sketchbooks of travel and everyday life, you’ll like this one. I clicked on the Pinterest section and found a page of sketchbooks; her compositions are spot on.

Krystal Anne Bick, This Time Tomorrow. She’s young, but I forgive her. (In one post about aging, which was worth reading, she thinks about when she will age at 40, 50, and 60. Told ya.) I particularly enjoyed this post, ‘People I Think About that Don’t Think About Me.’ (Yes, I do occasionally also think about my first grade teacher, Miss Blyler, who did not give me a star on my report card envelope once because it was returned with a grease spot - peanut butter most likely - on it. Whoa!)

Grace Atwood, The Stripe. Not sure how stylish a bookworm I am, BUT I do love books and reading. If you do, too, you’ll find much to learn here. Here was a post about ALL the books she read in 2024.

I also love and recommend the others on my list (Carla, Stephanie, Samantha, Kim, Julie )- still - while noticing a trend that doesn’t make me happy. So I did take a few favorites off the list. Many bloggers and artists are now using Substack or Patreon, on which you pay for access to much of their work and posts. Not all, but lots. I understand this - as an artist myself who would love to get a bit more noticed - but I still don’t like it.

While I have your rapt attention (yes?), let me also remind you that, if you like to read and see interest artwork and artists,I have a visual list of Artists Who Inspire Me. You can always find it at the top under ALL THINGS ARTS.

Here’sa funny thing. THIS LINK is from The Atlantic and what got me started on this whole post. It’s a list for summer reading. I got this link from one of my favorites, but dang, I don’t know which one. The Atlantic is not necessarily available without $$$, but for some reason, this list is. It’s a long one. May as well enjoy!
