milestones

I hope you will indulge me for this aside. But I feel I must declare it somehow as one of the milestones of one’s life. You know those. We all have them.

Fifty years ago this day I married a gentle, fun, lovely man who I had known for short of two years but was from the start always comfortable, happy, and relaxed in his presence. We were a fine couple.

Eight months later on what was a sunny morning, he got on a small plane with two piloting ex-roommates and they crashed into a mountain in sudden fog.

I went on to have a good life again and married another lovely man and we will soon celebrate 47 years.

I just wanted to note this day of what would have been a 50th wedding anniversary. Never forget those that have shaped your life. You always miss them, no matter how long they’ve left your life, one way or another. Dads and moms, sisters, best friends, and brand new husbands. The world missed out on having this man around for decades. Miss you still, Dave.
