Speaking of alphabets....
I love alphabets, as you may have discerned. Every year in the classroom I challenged the kids to come up with their own alphabet. We looked a LOT of samples, but, frankly, these creative kids didn’t need that so much. I though I ‘d share one that I found again in my files. The artist is Randi Klinck, who was either a 5th or 6th grader at the time, and could always be depended upon to come up with her brand of creativity. I hope she doesn’t mind this 20-year-old piece being shared with you.
There once was a monthly newspaper called Upper and Lower Case, filled to the brim with lettering ideas. I kept them around; couldn’t bear to part with them. They no longer produce issues; but with this link, you can look at all of their editions. Although the focus was lettering and fonts, there would often be a special alphabet, like the one here. Go take a peek; see what I mean.
