The last faces.

A few getaway days in Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island. My long-time friends will recognize the coat. It’s a running joke.

Hello from a warm (and, imho, wonderful) week in the Pacific Northwest. Of course, we are experiencing record temperatures for May, because, well….climate change is an actual fact.

Gardens - ours included - are exploding around here, a little late to the party…truly a long and gray winter, mostly mild in temperature, but OH SO gray and wet. But now that the sun is making daily appearances, it’s hard for me to keep up with the growth. And I’m also trying to keep a garden journal fresh and interesting. Jury is out on that one.

The (probably) last of the faces in my 100 day project “Faces in the Newspapers” is below. I will have to re-title it The 70-Day Project. That’s good enough for me. Some of these drawings are pretty MEH, some are fine, a couple are awful (I drew Stephen Colbert three times and it still doesn’t look like him.) But that’s okay. To tell you the truth, I was finding faces I wanted to draw harder and harder to find. I also realized I don’t like the small book format nor the gray pages. A handful were done digitally. Now it’s time to move on to something else.

But I had a good time and I do enjoy drawing and painting faces, using different media and styles. You can see them all below. The first two videos are also here.
