Happy Birthday.

In honor of Gustav Klimt’s birthday (1862, Austria), I’m playing with his patterns, his gold, his elegant women, his backgrounds, his spirals….because he is so much fun to use as a model. Carefree. I am not finished, not at all, but here’s the beginning. Check back later. Thought it might be fun to see the work in its messy stage. When you hate it before you love it.

At a pretty raw stage here.

Some of you may have figured out how much I love this artist. The heading is a page from the 2020 calendar, Whose House?, and is an imaginary vision of what Klimt’s house might look like, based on his style. I wrote about him in this post two years ago and shared several videos, if you’re of a mind to revisit it or drink it in for the first time.

I made a video about him to correspond to the calendar series. It’s below. The link is here for the post that includes other YouTube videos and information about this very interesting artist.
