N is for a number of things in an overflowing Jewelbox

I often say that you can be miserable before eating a cookie and you can be miserable after eating a cookie, but you can never be miserable while you’re eating a cookie.

I have been building this Jewelbox since the first of February. It has grown, so I’m taking a different path this time to get them all in. So many wonders, curiosities, interests, so little time. Just a big list this time with links.

This week, I am flying to Champaign Illinois just to have art camp with my traveling pal Jeannie.

This is about the time each year that Carol and I would be having our spring Art Camp so I am missing her even more.

2018

Last year

But art camp with Jeannie will be fun and help. And we can plan details of our upcoming late-August Ireland-London trip.

So here are N AND 0 (for Overflow!) Jewelboxes.

They will keep you busy. So much art, so little time.

Austin Kleon (who wrote among others Show Your Work and Steal Like an Artist) shares weekly newsletters each with 10 interesting things. You can subscribe free. He has a keen eye for unusual, often art-related items. Beware of going off on a goose chase - the good kind - or two!

A map of who lived when. Trust me. You will want this some day.

I’ve noticed a trend lately where people bring a book and just read for an hour. In school, we used to call them Silent Reading Time or some other witty catchphrase. Oh would so love to be going to this reading party. In Paris.

4

Edward Hopper: a selection of videos about this iconic artist (on my all-time favorites list.)

5

I suspect you will find this hard to believe! Amazing. Go see. That’s all I’m telling you, folks.

6

More. (My friends know I can never get enough of Paris.)

An Artist in Paris

Oh…you would rather be in Tuscany? An Artist in Tuscany.

One thing leads to another around here, and something drove me to one of my OLD blog posts and my former blog site. There is still a lot there, though sometimes images have gotten moved over time. You can browse through them if you click on the BLOG ARCHIVE 2008-2016 box on the Home page (scroll down.)

This was a post I did to note my fondness for Mary Ann Moss’s blogs and she is still very active and on my Favorite Artists list in Collections.) It’s a video that, although posted in 2010, seems quite relevant today. Knock Knock Knocking….

Some other March posts from way back. 2015. 2014. 2012 (you know, the Dark Ages.) Not doing anything today? Or need a diversion from cleaning the house or paying the bills? Wander on over.

Have I told you about Lucia Leyfield at Wild Ink? She has quite an array of interesting classes for really big deals. Admittedly, they are reruns of live classes, but who cares? They are inexpensive and they come with her delightful British accent. And personality. Check her blog out, too, if you like her style. And this feature article.

Coming in the shop after I return from my trip are some items I have designed to help through the wars/politics/MAGA/Congress dysfunction/everybody-snapping-at-each-other blues. They’re called Bitsas. They’ve been ready for their debut for awhile, but one thing or another got in line in front of them.

Watch for them. And new notecards also coming soon.
